It’s no secret here that love hot weather. I’m a tropical baby and I live for sunshine.
I spent a few years in extreme cold and I did find ways to enjoy myself…
But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t take every ounce of energy to get me to enjoy the changing seasons. As it’s September 23rd and Fall has officially begun, I need to start wrapping my head around the fact that for about 6 months the days will get colder and darker. So this is my attempt. Here is where I admit to liking something about the colder temperatures:
What I’m looking forward to…
The best addition to oatmeal and toast known to man….oh and then also pumpkin butter. Particularly this beauty from Trader Joes.
I love me some scarves. I have a massive bin under my best stuffed with scarves (need to find a better organization strategy…). And I just caved and bought myself this beauty from none other than Anthropologie. Love. Cannot wait to pair it with the new jacket I just bought. [No, this isn't a fashion blog, I just got bitten by the shopping bug for my b'day...Mom, don't judge].
I love summer running but it is much easier and more enjoyable in the fall. Plus I love rocking my Brooks running jacket. (last mention of clothing…I promise). This jacket became my go-to racing outfit.
Apple Picking & Cider Making
Who doesn’t love apple picking?? I just had my first honey crisp apple of the season and oooo was it tasty. Zack and I will probably be heading out to his casa for apple picking any weekend now…And with apple picking comes cider making.. Hours of labor crushing hundreds of apples which will result in pure deliciousness. Check out his family’s manpowered cider press:
Crock Pot Season
My crock pot is my pride and joy. I love that thing. And nothing goes better together than a crock pot and healthy fall comfort food. It makes eating healthy when the temperature drops that much easier. Here are some recipes I’m drooling over:
T’giving is by far my favorite holiday. I get to see my family altogether (bonus = seeing my mom freak out about the cold weather). And of course, it goes without saying, I love the food. Who doesn’t? My favorites? Stuffing and Brussels sprouts. Healthy balance huh? Oh and of course I love pie. Especially when I back it myself. Hello homemade caramel apple pie:
So in summary, while I’m already sad about the colder weather and shorter days, I will suck it up and be hero. Bring on the pumpkin butter and boots!
What are you looking forward to about Fall?
Begrudgingly? Or are you thrilled?
